|Sensory Play with Homemade Goop|
- 3 TBS sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup corn starch
- 2 cups water
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan heat until mixture thickens. Cool & pour in small containers. Add food coloring to create desired colors.
Well when I finished my "finger paint" was a gelatinous glob. Originally I was considering throwing out the mixture and then figured the kiddos would still have fun smooshing it all around. When they began to play the mixture was thick and chunky. If you rub the mixture on the table it becomes smooth which is perfect for a writing/drawing surface. The great thing was that it did not dry out and they could write in the goop over and over. Next time I plan to add an olfactory sense as well by including either essential oils for kiddos that need calming or sucker flavoring for a fun scent.
